The country is still reeling in the wake of the horrific shooting at a Parkland, Florida high school, that left 3 teachers and 14 kids dead and more than a dozen injured. It was the worst shooting since Sandy Hook in 2012 where the death toll was 26, most of them first graders. We progressives thought we’d get change after that one and were astounded when the GOP continued to bow to the will of the NRA and block every effort the progressives made. But there’s something different happening this time. The Parkland teens were 9-12 when the Sandy Hook massacre occurred—old enough to know about it, old enough to understand death, old enough to fear it could happen to them. And then it did.
These courageous and powerful Parkland teens are ramping up the gun safety debate in a way that has never happened before. They say “enough is enough” and “never again” and teens across the country are joining them in solidarity, realizing that next time they could be the ones dodging bullets from an AR-15. These kids say they are the generation that is not going to stop until they get gun reform and make this country a safer place. It’s going to be an uphill battle for sure, but you know what? We believe them. We hope you'll join these kids in their quest for sensible gun control. If you'd like to express your support out loud, you can do it with a Never Again hoodie or t-shirt. -BlueRaven Tees
